In Democratic Republic of Congo, women face horrific threats of sexual violence. Four years ago, a United Nations official suggested that the country is "the rape capital of the world." In this short documentary, filmmaker Arild Kumar profiles local aid workers who hope to empower victims as they recover. "These women have been traumatized physically and mentally," says one of the film's subjects, Mama Jeanette. "When I see their joy return, when they start to sing and dance, it gives me great happiness."

To learn more about this cause, Kumar recommends a Norwegian non-profit named JOIN Good Forces, which works closely with these women.
